Environmental Responsibility and Plastic Thermoforming

If asked to name some of the "greenest" industries in the world today, it wouldn't surprise us if most people didn't come up with plastic thermoforming.  However, when combined with a little dedication, a thermoforming facility can actually become one of the more environmentally friendly facilities around!

At Matrix Manufacturing Company, it all starts with recycling and waste reduction.  Whenever we run a job, there is bound to be some combination of excess trim, drop, flawed material, and scrap.  Rather than tossing this material into the dumpster for the landfill, we either grind it (polyethylene), or cut it down with a band-saw (other plastic) and store it in large bins.  Then, when enough of a given material has been accumulated, it is returned to the extruder to be recycled into new plastic sheet.  Over 99% of the plastic we use is completely recyclable!

Another positive of our facility is that all the heaters in our thermoforming machines are electric.  Therefore, Matrix produces next to nothing in terms of air pollution. In addition, Matrix has strategies in place to minimize the amount of time the heaters are on, thereby reducing electrical consumption.  These strategies benefit Matrix (lower utility bills), our customers (lower prices), and the environment!
